  • Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Does Not Rule Out Move To Welterweight

Amir Khan believes Saturday's hard-fought win over Julio Diaz was just the workout he required in his quest to regain a world title.

Khan survived a fourth-round knockdown to battle to an unconvincing points victory over the veteran Mexican at Sheffield's Motorpoint Arena.

The 25-year-old, without world belts since damaging back-to-back defeats to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia in 2011 and 2012 respectively, now hopes the result puts him back in the frame for title fights.

Knockout waiting to happen is khan. He'll never be elite for that reason. No trainer can fix that. I mean khan was hurt by Julio Diaz really?? This guy wasent even top ten in the division. Didn't even know diaz was still boxing. But I see khan starting to fight more "scared" after his latest w

I still can't get over how young Khan is.

But anyone else get a feeling his career is drawing to a close?

He'll get a title shot next most likely, and one in which he will most likely get stopped in if his current form is anything to go by, and then is it even worth his while dropping his level of competition so he can rebuild once more?

Hope he can prove me wrong, though.

They mentioned the Brook-Alexander fighter a couple of times. Thought Brook pulled out of it. Anybody know if thats still on?

I hoped the same, but he doesn't seem to be dedicated enough.

In order to change his style he needed a -lot- of work in the gym and , in my opinion, to fight at least 4 times this year before having another title shot.

Instead, according to Hunter he only visits the gym for a few weeks before his fights, he only fought twice, didn't show any substantial improvement and his manager was already talking about a title shot in his next fight (December).

Khan is exciting and has some talent, but I have to agree with you. Another K.O. and he can either retire or become a gate keeper of sort.

I can't help but think he's ducking the whole of the 140 pound division if he moves up. I thought he was guaranteed to fight either the winner of Garcia and Matthysse/Peterson winner? The Welterweight division is even more wide open.

I know Khan has gotten ko b4 but his fight was very similar to Bradley's fight. Both got knocked around and almost finished multiple times. I know I'm gonna get laughed at but it's true. And I don't buy that Tim fought that way to try and prove something. He tried to be a tough guy and got clocked. Amir too. Well not really he just got clocked but its the same ish to me. That's the fight I wanna see. Amir vs Tim because honestly I don't think Tim even deserves to fight Marquez after getting hammered by a guy like Ruslan.

                  Sad future for Khan

I honestly think that if Khan keeps fighting the big names in his division, whether it be 140lb or 147lb, he could be punch drunk at a very young age, I dislike Khan as a boxing fan and hope what i believe isn't true, can't wish that on anyone, but for his sake this guy should consider getting out of boxing cuz he's not gonna have a bright future if he does continue getting knocked down, we all know when Khan gets knocked down he gets hurt bad, his legs are always all wobbly and you can see it in his face that he stays dazed and hurt for a while
