Comments Thread For: Fury vs. Pulev Negotiations Begin For Mandatory Clash

Hennessy Sports and Sauerland Event have begun talks for a fight between Tyson Fury and Kubrat Pulev. This would be a defense of the EBU heavyweight title held by Pulev and a final IBF eliminator for the mandatory position in the IBF ratings.

Pulev, 17-0 and # 1 IBF, knocked out Alexander Ustinov in an eliminator for the number one position in September of last year and has since been waiting for the next move in the IBF's four man tournament - while Fury, 21-0, took out Steve Cunningham on April 20 for the # 2 position. HELL YEAH! Very happy Fury's camp took the fight. This is what boxing is all about.

This should be a great fight and build up, I love Furys personality. I think Pulev wins by late stoppage, though.

I will be shocked if Pulev does not stop Fury.

              Fury will stop Pulev.

I know he behaves like a tool at times albeit in a funny endearing way.

I know he looks ungainly. I know he fights in a way that looks vulnerable.

However he's a big m***** f***** with power in both fists, good hand speed when he throws combinations, and can - when he wants to -fight to a game plan.

As long as he cuts the ****y stuff out, he'll dominate Pulev. I think he was eager to impress the fans, didn't have his uncle putting him straight, and fought like a lunatic against Cunningham.

Saying that, the commentary was hyperbolic. Fury was never in real trouble. He wasn't hurt when he was knocked down - he was caught square and straight up and seemed more embarrassed than anything else. (He was hurt worse on another punch a bit later when he grabbed on.) After that he did something unthinkable - became a 6'9" pressure fighter. Guard up, didn't take a backward step, and Cunningham had nowhere to go to get away.

Can you imagine a 6'9" Brandon Rios coming after you?

In his career so far, he's fought as a south paw, he's fought toe to toe, he's fought as a pressure fighter, and he's fought disciplined behind his jab. That's more versatility then any other heavyweight I can remember. And the guy is only 24. Oh, and unlike a certain other giant British heavyweight, Fury can take a damn good punch and he loves a good scrap.

Pulev will not know what to do when he had that jab hammering him in the face.

As I was saying, Tyson Fury may be a bit of a wally, but he's going places - provided he turns up in shape. (So if he looks fat, I reserve the right to withdraw my backing!)

While I agree that shot from Cunnigham didn't hurt fury, he got caught and got dropped.... Now imagine if Pulev, a legit Heavywright, with power, catches him with the same shot. As likely as it is that the fight plays out the way you said, it's just as likely Pulev catches Fury just like Cunnigham, except actually hurts him. You never know. We'll see. I can't wait

Fury is too big for Poolev. I'm not a fan of furys at all I'm just honest. There's nothing Poolev can bring boxing or stylistically that Cunningham couldn't do better, therefore it comes down to size, strength, and rough tactics which Fury has the advantage in all three. It is what it is.

                    This is more like it!

Fury willing to take the risk, unlike Haye.
