Martinez not losing it...Just fought lazy fight

To me it just looked like he was bored in there...Ever since round 1. When he was getting caught in the middle rounds it was literaly because he didnt FEEL like playing defense. Crazy, cause he only won the fight by 1 point on a lot of scorecards. But he probably thought he was up every round and theres no way a decision was going against him.

I still say hes number 1 and rightfully worthy of the world championship.

His reflexes were not nearly as good as normal. Whether that can be attributed to boredom, I don't know. It is, however, probably the most prominent sign that age is effecting a fighter.

It's known that he only rises to the level of whatever his competition is. However, I think we've got to expect that physical limitations are coming into play at his age, especially coming off surgery and suffering whatever hand injury that was. The fact that people even rag on guys that fight past 37 is really childish to me. I believe guys like him, Vitali, and Hopkins should be celebrated for aging well. No excuses are necessary.

Many things can be said as to why we saw the performance that we did last night. Maybe some of them are valid, maybe not. Time will tell. Personally, I didn't think he looked that terrible/deteriorated last night. Murray just fought a great fight. Had a good game plan, and stuck to it.

Fighting in front of his peoples and trying to force the fight/action could have played a roll, his first fight back from major reconstructive surgery could have played a roll. A wet sponge ring could have played a roll. Martinez' injured hand/other nagging injuries could have played a roll. Etc. Also, as previously stated and not to be overlooked, Murray had a good game plan and fought a good fight. He was also considerably bigger than Martinez.

I agree, he ****ed around with murray more than he hit him because he was turtle mode except for like two rounds lol.
Martinez did too much flashy stuff for the crowd which almost cost him the fight.
You could also tell he didnt throw his left hand as strong and then in between rounds he said how bad it hurts. Just a bad time for Martinez last night and he still pulled it off

Yeah great idea, fight lazy in a packed stadium in his front of his home crowd.

What happened was the same thing that happened in the Barker fight 1 and half years ago, this time the defensive fighter could actually fight.

i think it was age combined with being bored. by the time he fights again though hes gonna be considerably even more older if hes waiting till 2014. Idn, not sure how he handles the likes of a Golovkin being as old as he is.

He was half stepping with his legs all night. His legs and upper body have to be in sync in order to be 100% effective.

Let's wait til his knee heals properly, and then judge his performance.

This is nothing more than a recently injured athlete coming back to their sport for the first time. They might look great in practice/training, but the rust factor, mental stress due to the injury, and the uncertainty of the injury will be there.

We can't judge him until a few more fights, but the unfortunate part is, this is boxing. 1 bad fight can end your career.

He didn't choose to fight lazy, he just looks like it. Nobody wants to fight like that and basically get beat up at home

At one point it looked like he was trting to get hurt lol
He was on the ropes and got caught then waved Murray on and didn't try to counter or move. He Put more time into ducking, which looked better then before at times lol, than fighting
