    Haymon Sacrificed Guerrero

Answer me this, when has Haymon matched his own against each other?

    NEVER

He got tired of footing the bill for Fernando Guerrero and came to the realization that there was no financial upside to him so he gave him to Quillen to better Quillen's career. This fight was never in question. Guerrero was a gift from Haymon to Quillen.

I bet if you checked, Guerrero paid Haymon back ALOT out of his final check.

This happens all the time in boxing. Arum and GBP do the same thing.

Not disagreeing and yes it does. The point was:

      1. Haymon has never done it
      2. When GBP and Arum do it, it is about monopolizing the card because they are the promoter and don't want to let anyone else in on the money. Haymon is not a promoter(legally). Haymon invest signing bonuses, training camp expenses, stipends, etc... into fighter and recoups when his fighters fight for big purses. The promoters get TV, Gate and sponsorship revenue and don't need a particular fighter to win to further their money.

Yea, looks like Haymon realized that Guerrero will never pan out to anything so he just gave him to Quillin. That and theres nobody at 160 for Quillin to fight so a soft chinned Guerrero would do nicely in BK

theres a difference though in the role of a "manager" vs the role of a "promoter". Per the Ali act, it is against the law for a "manager" to represent both sides of a fight. The reason is that a "manager" has a fiduciary duty to the fighter, where the "promoter" does not. So therefore it is impossible for a "manager" to adequately represent both sides of a fight.

Think about it. Say for example there is $1 million in the fight to split up. Every dollar the "manager" negotiates for fighter "a" comes out of fighter "b" pocket. How can you represent both sides when you are negotiating against one sides interests?

Now perhaps calling yourself an "advisor" skirts the intent of the Ali act, but I dont think so. I would suspect, that to be in compliance with the intent of the law, that Haymon allows one side of the fight to obtain independent representation for that fight if they want to......

Did he used to be a Haymon fighter?

I don't see him in Haymon's fighter list.

                Okay I see he is.

One interesting aspect of the fight was that it marked the first time that powerful manager/adviser Al Haymon, whose stable also includes Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Garcia, matched two of his fighters against each other.

How come Guerrero is no where to be seen in Haymon fighter lists though?

He was signed by Haymon before his fight with Jesse Nicklow on SHOBOX.

I had no idea that he was a fighter represented by Al Haymon, isn't that a conflict of interest?
