Comments Thread For: Lucas Browne Beats James Toney Easy, Johnson Wins

Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, Australia - This could finally be the end for former three division world champion James Toney (74-7-3, 45 KOs), 44-years-old. Toney was beaten over twelve rounds, with ease, by undefeated heavyweight prospect Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne (15-0, 14 KOs), who is promoted by former world champion Ricky Hatton. The scores were 117-111, 119-109 and 120-108. Browne boxed his way to victory and controlled the fight with his physical advantages, like his much longer reach. Toney had nothing left by the championship rounds.

Agreed. Toney was my favourite fighter. He used to be real handy. Lucas Browne has absolutely nothing to offer the heavyweight division so if james is getting completely outclassed by him then thats just plain sad.

It's sad to see great fighters from the 90s still fighting. They where great fighters when i was a kid. It was great to watch them fight back then. I hope the greats of this era gets out in time and i hope Hopkins proves the exception and don't end up like Jones or Toney, getting beaten by bums all around the world.

It's also sad for me seeing one of my favs still fighting at this stage. Went through this with Jones and Holyfield as well.

It doesn't take losing to Lucas Browne to realize that this lump is shot to sh^t. The rematch with Sam Peter over six years ago was more than enough evidence to see that he was an absolute shell.

@ Dana White paying this guy half a million dollars.

                    it's time toney

one of my favorites but it is time to hang it up for good. he just can't get off anymore & as someone said earlier he was done as a prizefighter after the second peter fight. freddie roach told him to retire then because he was getting hit by punches he never use to get hit by...it's a sad day to see him lose to a 15-0 novice but toney is too fat, slow & punchdrunk. take up commentating or something. i'm sure he would be amusing to listen too.
