Martinez v. Murray: Where's the controversy?

I reviewed the fight, I thought Martinez won rounds 1, 2, 3, 4,7, 11, and 12 clearly. Murray won rounds 6, 8, and 10 clearly. Rounds 5 and 9 could have gone either way. The fight could have been scored 114-112 Sergio, 115-112 Sergio (as the judges had it), or 116-111 Sergio.

I dare anyone to rewatch the fight and tell me Sergio didn't at least win rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, and 12. Sergio was more active in those rounds and was also throwing the harder shots.

Round 4, though Sergio was busier, Murray was getting to him by then and landing his own shots. It could have gone either way. I could see 6-6 in rounds, with Murray winning because of the knockdown, and I could see 7-5 Sergio, barely winning. Either way, they botched the 2nd knockdown and Sergio looked like crap.

He needs to stop calling out Welterweights and 154 fighters, and fight his own best fights at 160. Geale, Golovkin, etc.

If Sergio was throwing the harder shots why did he get dropped twice and cut? while Murray finished on his feet without a scratch on him

And this was a crappy fight going in anyway. Martin Murray is nowhere near world class, and isn't even a Top 5 Middleweight. Sergio needs to fight either Geale or Golovkin next, stop calling out smaller guys, or just retire.

Doesn't matter. Sergio's overrated & looks terrible tonight.

Canelo would beat the **** out of him. So would Golovkin.

Did they ever rule if the cut was from a butt or a punch?

No.....he fights and goes life and death with Martin f**king Murray....Martin f**king Murray.....doesn't end up fighting Golovkin or Geale, which are the best fights at 160 right now for him.....and stays calling out a guy who started at 130 lbs and who's naturally 20 lbs smaller than him in actual size.

You don't see anything wrong with that???

lol at Martinez throwing ¨the harder shots¨

Murray was never hurt, wobbled or even fazed in the slightest, it's as if Paulie Malignaggi was fighting there instead of Martinez, Sergio's power was nonexistant while Murray had him hurt plenty of times.

I agree that Martinez won the first 4 rounds due to Murray's inactivity, he didn't win 11 or 12, and there's also the fact he got KD TWICE

This was a hometown decission for anyone who is not a biased Martinez fanboy

But what can we expect from Argentinians, I still remember when they gifted a draw to argentinian Luis Lazarte, after mexican Ulises Solis schooled him for 12 rounds and Lazarte had commited every foul in the book
