In reference to the Johnathon Banks vs Wladimir Klitschko fight that might be made in the future - has there ever been a title fight in any division where the champion defended the title against his trainer?

i really doubt it. there have been cases of two men fighting, with one of them later acting as a trainer for his former opponent. hopkins and john david jackson is an obvious example.

Not to denigrate Banks but he isn't a legit contender and i have a very difficult time seeing him being capable of actually earning a title shot by beating a legit top 10 HW.
