Man everybody on the island is gonna start rocking the Rigo grill and the chains with the big ol' medallions.

Great News! Would love to one day see Erislandy Savon, Yasniel Toledo and Robeisy Carrazana as pros!

Forget WSB, lets see them turn pro and fight trough the professional ranks. I would add alot to the sport. WSB fighters are full of unsuccesful amateurs, it would do no good to see Cuba's amateur stars dominate the minor leagues.

Hopefully this is just a step on the way to really allowing pro boxing.

It would be cool if Cuba allowed more fighters like Richard Abril, who lives in Cuba and is allowed to fight in the pros and travel freely. I'm not exactly sure how its done now but I believe Abril won some kind of lottery system. Would be awesome if they could at the very least expand this system.

He got out the same way me and my family got out which is legally and that's how he's able to travel freely between here and there.

Yes I know what Abril is doing is legal but quite obviously it isn't normal or else we'd see a ton of pro fighters out of Cuba. He won a loterry system, that's what I reaf. I'll search...

                    From Wikipedia:

Most Cuban boxers have defected to go
professional over the past few years amid
                    considerable fanfare for outstanding amateur
careers. However, this wasn’t the case for Abril, a
very good former amateur in his own right,
having fought over 200 bouts. Unlike his
countrymen who can’t return to the island, he is
still able to return regularly to Cuba and spend
time with friends and family. Several years ago,
Abril won a lottery system, allowing him to freely
come and go to and from Cuba.
                    At the age of 23,
Abril made his professional debut against Carlos
                    Pena.

You still have to be interviewed and approved by the Cuban government once you're selected. So yea is not that easy. I was 12 years old when this all went down so I dunno a whole lot about it. We call it "el bombo".

                      "Maria me gané el bombo!"
