Comments Thread For: Virgil Hunter: No Doubt Amir Khan Can Be Champion Again

Amir Khan's trainer Virgil Hunter believes his fighter is now back on the path to world title glory.

Khan split from previous coach Freddie Roach and turned to Hunter last year after his career stalled with back-to-back defeats against Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia in world title fights.

Khan began what he hopes is a march back to the top with victory over Carlos Molina last December and he aims to progress further by seeing off Mexican Julio Diaz in Sheffield this weekend.

Hunter is confident the 25-year-old former world lightweight champion will regain his lost status.

Yet while he expects Khan to learn from the mistakes he made, he believes other errors were made by the previous regime that surrounded the Bolton fighter.

    Who outweighed Khan by 13lbs?

@ least Hunter has his head screwed in the right place and he knows being outweighed by 13lbs is not good. Surprisingly there are people who want to see Mayweather fighting guys who outweigh him by 25lbs. How fair is that?

Of course he can be champion again lol. The haters will say otherwise, but there is no denying Khan's gifts. He has excellent hand speed, punching power and a great jab. Sure he's got holes in his game, but still it's hard to deny the talent he has. Plus he's 26... he's got at least 5 more years left in him.

i'll be interested to see if Khan still gets caught by the looping right hook, Diaz will be fo sure going for it just like Molina did.

Also got to see if Khans inside game has improved

If her can fix both these things, he will be a better fighter

Khan probably will win a belt again. Lots of belts out there and he is going to beat most guys with sheer speed and movement. Will be crack the A list - possibly not, given his chin issues.
