Don't do this to us Erik, or hearts can't handle it.

Fight an easy opponent in Mexico as a goodbye, and call it a day.

Erik Morales Versus Juan Manuel Marquez In Mexico City; JMM Ducked Him Forever!

Morales has nothing left. But former gym partners, JMM has held a grudge against Morales for years. JMM has ducked Morales his entire career. BOTH Morales and Marquez each fought Pacquiao & Barrera multiple times in their career, BUT they never fought each other! JMM was offered Morales a year ago for a July date, prior to a possible Pacquiao fight. JMM balked at the idea again. Would be sweet to see two Mexican Legends get it on in Mexico City, Marquez thinking Morales has an empty tank, and gets knocked out by Morales, and Erik give him no rematch... just like JMM did to Pacquiao. That's what you get JMM for ducking Morales their entire careers. What we don't know, is that maybe as former gym partners, Morales got the best of Marquez often in camp.... Hmmmm.... pretty strange how Erik Morales has always been available, even in their prime, to fight Marquez, has been offered more than once to Marquez, and he walks the other way.

Can't believe there are actually people out there who have anything but love for Morales. He left it all in the ring, and is going to give his hometown fans a last showing or two before hanging them up. If I had the time/money, I'd fly down there myself to see a legend off.

You're an idiot and obviously have no idea what the hell you're talking about. By Morales' own admission, it was actually him who avoided Marquez for years; not because of fear but because Morales always had better/more profitable fights on the table, i.e. Barrera, Ayala, Jones, Pacquiao, etc... It's only in the last two years that Marquez has dismissed Morales; and again, not because of fear, but in retaliation against Morales for never giving him a shot when Marquez was an up-and-comer. Much like why/how Marquez is not going to give Pacquiao a fifth fight!!!

He's a very rich guy and right now he's messing with his health. It's his prerogative, of course. Would hate to see such a legend take unnecessary damage.

that's what it says in the article, that he'll be fighting twice this year in mexico. not sure where the first fight will take place, but the second fight will be in his hometown and it will be his last. good for him imo, have him put on a final show for his people and hopefully go out on a win.

speaking of morales, i don't think barrera has officially retired yet. he hasn't fought since 2011, hopefully it stays that way. i know they're grown men and can make their own decisions, but these legends stay in the game longer than they should.

Let the man have a couple easy retirement fights in MX for the fans and stop grinding on him.

I think marquez never fought him because back when morales and Barrera were on top they never gave him the opportunity so now that jmm was on top he didn't see a point in fighting morales...either way marquez>Barrera>morales
