When a couple Virgil Hunter fighters lose a few fights I can already see them blaming him for his fighters being to heavy LOL!

So when he fought Danny, he was outweighed by 14 pounds???? So assuming Khan put on just 5-6 pounds over night, Hunter is saying that Danny came in weighing 160 pounds?????

Amir Khan will enter the ring in Sheffield on Tuesday night against Mexico’s Julio Diaz for his first fight in the UK for two years 10 pounds heavier than the 140lb light-welterweight limit permitted at the weigh-in, 30 hours before a bout.

“Amir was giving away a lot of weight in some fights. He was 14lb lighter than Danny Garcia [who stopped Khan in the fourth round in July last year], and lighter than Marcos Maidana and Lamont Peterson,” said Hunter, Khan’s trainer, yesterday.

“He was cutting weight, but he was not putting the weight on again. Those parts of it were mistakes, and that part of it has been corrected. It means two things: you hit the wall in fights because you’re dehydrated, and it could mean you have less power.

“This is what I am here to do. To work with Amir and intuitively find what is right.

“Amir showed courage to leave one of the most acclaimed trainers in the world. Amir is a pleasure to work with.”

Khan explained the changes since the two camps with Hunter. “Now I’m walking into the ring 10lb heavier, which is my normal sparring weight. Some fighters put on 25lb. I’m now much stronger at the weight and hydrated fully. When I was fighting for the world titles, I’d walk into the ring at 147. I only put on 6½lb when I fought Garcia, and against Lamont Peterson, seven pounds.”

I have to agree with hunter here, khan looked really weak in the past and i am convinced him being dehydrated was one of the reasons he couldnt recover from the garcia shot (other reasons, it was an illegal shot, multiple lowblows by garcia, early stoppage by ref), i mean seriously, khan should never have lost to a guy who went life n death with an ancient morales. The new fully hydrated khan stops Garcia in 8 rounds, SIG IT!!
Looked week in the past? he looked good against peterson, garcia and maidana, khan is just butthurt that his biscuit chin keeps getting checked at every weight class he goes to.

we'll, he's faced molina and is now facing diaz under hunter. anything less than an impressive win is a big disappointment for them. hunter can talk about how great amir is once he's graduated from the little leagues and starts winning against the best 140 lbers. for now, it's like racing your porsche against toyotas and then brgging about it.

i like amir and have always supported him but i don't seehim climbing the p4p ranks much with his suspect chin and lack of infighting skills. he'll always be fun to watch, though.

Only guy that had a significant weight advantage was Peterson.

14 pounds lighter than Garcia, huh? Why would Hunter say such a thing? And I thought it was weird too because Freddie has long shown respect for Virgil, I didn't expect him to throw Roach under the bus like that

As I suspected. Hunter exaggerating. And we know Khan talks crap, so that's no surprise.

Honestly, if you're going to getting into small details, at least check you're talking sense. Because that picture just makes Hunter/Khan look ridiculous, especially as it's meant to be an important development they've made.

If you read back the comments, he doesn't mention Roach - the headline is deliberately sensationalist.

However, he is mis-leading with his comments. Now, either he's lying or he's saying stuff which is completely and factually incorrect. Either way, I'm sick of tired of people in boxing lying or not checking facts just to make themselves look better or someone else look bad. And the thing is - no-one calls them out on it. So a fake narrative is allowed to run and run.
