Mikkel Kessler says he will quit boxing if he loses his world title fight with Carl Froch. The 34-year-old WBA belt holder takes on IBF world super-middleweight champion Froch, 35, in a unification bout at London's O2 Arena on 25 May. Kessler inflicted the first defeat of Brit Froch's career in a fight in the former's native Denmark in 2010.

We'll i guess that makes it official. The loser must retire from the sport of boxing. At this point neither man can afford to take a loss from one another. I personally don't wanna see none of them go but just like The Highlander "there can only be one".

Understandable, both are knocking on in years and loss puts them back a few.

I agree - why say you're going to retire if you lose, but you're not? I guess he's trying to say that Froch is not on his level. ANYWAY.....

Froch says the same thing. It's a way of building the mindset so that they believe they're in there fighting for their very career, it gives an extra edge for motivation.

The old 'if I lose to this guy, I'll retire' bit. Whoever loses won't retire.
