It's true, although it wasn't all Chavez Jr, he's headlined PPVs in the past and never did numbers close to that. Martinez brought a lot to the table and it takes a great match up to sell a PPV. Canelo has yet to become a proven PPV commodity, and he may or may not sell bigger numbers, but it's clear he'd do high numbers with the right opponent.

They both have their set of skills. Chavez has an iron chin and otherworldly stamina. Canelo is more fundamentally sound.

But what Canelo has that Chavez didn't if we're gonna be honest is Canelo has/had the option of not having to face Martinez. If it were Canelo in Jr's shoes, he'd have a loss on his resume too. We should not develop amnesia here, Chavez is once beaten by a top pfp fighter, not some average Joe.
