Come September, Mayweather has a hard choice to make. Here is why!

With Canelo beating Trout, and him now wanting to face Mayweather. Come September, everyone knows that the date that really matters is the Mexican Independence Day weekend one, hence why Canelo/Lopez and ChavezJr/Martinez took place the same night just a few miles away.

So Mayweather, having already said he will fight that weekend will have a though call to make if he decides not to face Canelo. If Mayweather picks another opponent, then Canelo will fight that weekend against Miguel Cotto on PPV, and unless Mayweather fights Pacquiao, there is no opponent out there that Floyd can find to sell more tickets and PPV than Canelo/Cotto.

So Floyd's options believe it or not come September, will be to either face Canelo or give up his much beloved Mexican Independence weekend.

Remember, like Floyd, Canelo is his own boss, all their fights are in part promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, but they both fight for their own promotional company. So Canelo is his own boss just like Floyd and decides on his dates and opponents, not Golden Boy.

    What do you guys think?

A fight with Canelo could be the highest earning PPV in boxing history IMO. But Canelo hasn't proven himself, so it won't happen.

Yes, but he just sold 40k tickets against Trout, his drawing power is legit wether he's proven or not.

GBP might force Floyd and the ginger to fight on the same card.... otherwise Floyd might get the PPV on Showtime and the ginger will fight in Mexico without Showtime, but Showtime will probably re-broadcast the ginger fighting cotto or something.

Exactly how many PPVs has he sold?

No, Canelo has clearly stated that he will not fight as undercard on a Mayweather fight. He was willing to fight in the undercard of Mayweather/Guerrero if Mayweather guaranteed him a fight in Sept. Once Mayweather didn't agree to it, Canelo backed up.

That dosen't mean anything, you honestly thing a fight between Canelo/Trout wouldn't sell a high amount of PPV's?

If the Canelo/Trout fight could have brought in a high amount of PPV buys then that fight would have been a PPV event. Cotto is coming off of TWO losses. Floyd could dig up the corpse of Alexis Arguello (RIP) and sell more PPVs than Canelo/Cotto..

The Fact is Canelo has not sold a single PPV in America. Not one. Floyd, OTOH, is the PPV king.

If Floyd doesn't choose to fight Canelo in September, no way in hell does Showtime bump Floyd on Mexican Independence Day weekend to feature a fight by a guy who hasn't sold a single PPV fight in America.

                Not gonna happen.

Doesn't seem that hard at all. He can (and should) fight Canelo, Ginger is the biggest payday out there for him currently.

But even if he doesn't, there is no way Canelo forces him to move the date. Doesn't matter that each has his own promotional company, neither has the resources or logistics to put on a PPV on the scale that GBP does. And GBP is not going to ask Floyd, a guy who commonly does 1M PPVs, to move off a date. The only way that could possibly happen is if Mayweather-Ghost does some incredibly **** numbers like 400K.

Floyd needs to fight Canelo in September, otherwise gtfo out of the way because GBP/Showtime will put Canelo-Cotto on PPV on that date instead.
