      Trout is overrated

Trout didn't even look good against Canelo Alvarez. And I think Alvarez can be had.Trout just couldn't hurt Alvarez,as he lacks true power. But the openings were there.I saw some holes in Alvarez' game that a GREAT fighter like Floyd Mayweather Jr. could exploit.Alvarez holds his hands too low for one thing.I think he feels his head movement will offset the low guard, but again ,not against a GREAT fighter like F.M. Jr.

Not better but he has a different defensive style. He was bending his knees to duck punches and parring a lot of Trout's shots. Mayweather's defensive style is more stationary where he uses rotation to roll with punches or he does a pull counter.

I am just curious how their styles would mesh up seeing as how they are both more along the lines of pure boxers.

Well Trout would try to outwork Floyd, and volume whores would be all over it. I can hear it now... "Trout threw more and landed more than Floyd. Forget the more effective or damaging shots. Trout was a buzz saw in there. Shostats/compubox tells me so."

But under my scoring I would have Floyd ahead with consumate defense and accurate effective countering. He would have to slip, roll, and deflect a lot of pitty pat jabs though enroute to a controversial (at least on here) victory of accuracy over volume.

Canelo is Floyds superior and has surpassed Floyds achievements of late. Canelo beat the man who beat the man.....ie Cotto. Trout also beat Cotto better than Floyd, so Floyd hasnt even proved he can beat Trout.

Is Floyd deserving of a crack at ginger or should floyd get in line.

Difference in boxing caliber to me. To each his own.
I didnt see anything from either fighter that shows they can beat Floyd.

Before last night's night there were a few posters who thought Trout was one of the best boxers in the world. Do people think that Trout was more over rated or that Canelo was just good enough to make him look less than spectacular?

I voted Trout wins a very close ud. It seemed to me that Trout beat Cotto by about the same amount as Floyd did. If they fought it would be after the Guerrero fight and Floyd would be 16 months further over the hill than when he fought Cotto. Trout is a very young fighter and time is on his side, not Floyd's.Trout is a real big, strong 154 pounder and he was very lean and hard for his fight with Canelo. He is a much bigger man than Mayweather and he is a natural southpaw with speed, boxing skills, a good jab and a good strait left.

I can only speak for myself and I think Canelo and Trout are two of the best fighters around and I don't think either of them will lose a fight for a long time.
