Floyds camp need to make Canelo come down to 147 and fith at welterweight. Why should Floyd fight at a weight disadvantage. Floyd have to go up to 154 to get the De La Hoya fights and Cotto fights. Cotto was being pursued by Arum and Pac so Mayweather had to make the weight compromise to land Cotto. He doesn't need to make that concession against Canelo.

If I'm Mayweather's camp, this fight goes down at 147, and if that means they have to give up a little extra cash to make that happen, then so be it. Putting Floyd (small to avg. welterweight who tops out at 152 or so) against a dude that will probably be fighting at MW in a year or two, and enters the ring at 172 is just ******. We all know Floyd isn't great at 154. He needs to stay at 147....or at a catchweight of 150 max. Actually, I'd like to see Floyd fight both Canelo and Martinez at 150.

It's not completely impossible since Alvarez fought at 147 for years, he even started at 140. But he would probably be weight-drained if he went down now, he hasn't fought at 147 since 2010. I doubt Mayweather would make him go back down either, he wanted to face Cotto at 154 - the weight Cotto was comfortable at, so there could be no excuses after the fight.
