I don't usually keep score, but I think Canelo won the fight. He's defense was the difference. Trout missed a ton of shots. Very close fight though.
Canelo vs Trout, how did you score the fight????

114-113 Trout but have no problem with them giving it to Alvarez. Trout was busier, but Alvarez landed the better punches in the close rounds.Comment

Yesterday I basically saw a much more entertaining version of Hopkins Calzaghe, I scored the fight for the guy who landed the much clean solid shots and that was Canelo, Trout is a terrible fighter, I saw it in the Cotto fight and I saw it again last night. Trout does nothing but throw a non meaningful jab for about 2 or 3 rounds and an occasional right, he has no snap on his punches, and for a boxer is a terrible counter puncher, did he even attempt 1 counter last night?
Canelo is still hype in my book, and if he fights a fighter actually capable of throwing sharp punches he will be stopped.
I hope to never see Trout on the big stage again because not only is he boring, he pretty much has no skill at all.
If Canelo fights Mayweather, Lara, hell even Angulo I think he loses.Comment

115 - 112 Trout.
Trout walked Canelo down for most of the night...
He also landed more and controlled the ring, Canelo appeared winded early on. Trout MADE this fight. Outside of the knockdown and a few hits, Canelo was mainly trying to land KO shots with his arms down...
Honestly, I can't see how ANYONE had him winning...
One of the judges gave Trout three rounds.

This is the crux of the entire thing. Every single time Canelo threw punches, he took ALL of Trout's momentum away. Trout missed FAR, FAR more punches than he landed and hardly any of his punches seemed to bother Alvarez at all. Canelo landed almost 50% of his power punches and wobbled Trout multiple times plus handed him the first KD of his career.
I just re-watched the fight and Canelo's activity dictated who the aggressor was, Trout had no control of this fight at all. If anything, Trout is persistent, and active but his aggression was not effective. He throws a lot of jabs and keeps coming but every punch Canelo landed moved him and within a few seconds of exchanging, it was Trout who was forced to back up and Canelo became the aggressor.
To all the people saying Trout won, go watch the 12th round when Trout walks back to his corner and just shakes his head and looks at the floor while Canelo raises his hands. Trout himself didn't think he won the fight so let's not pretend this was a ripoff. Trout tells you in the post-fight interview that he wasn't prepared for Alvarez' boxing style and that there were no excuses.
The man tells you that he thought he lost and that Canelo was the better man, so let's give Canelo the credit he deserves and cut the "hypejob" talk because he just beat the best 154 pounder in the world. The time for excuses is over, Canelo is now the best 154 pounder in the world.Comment
