Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo Wants Floyd Mayweather Jr. Next

Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas- Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya addressed the press shortly after Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's unanimous decision victory over Austin Trout. The former 6 division champion was asked what he thought about a possible unification fight between Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs), who holds the WBC and WBA junior middleweight titles and IBF champion Ishe Smith. De La Hoya said that fight is certainly possible down the road but that all of their focus is on a showdown against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26KOs).

            **** off, Oscar!

As for the fight itself, Floyd can't turn back the clock and use his legs anymore. He won't stand a chance standing stationary with his back against the ropes against a 170-pounder on fight night. Canelo gets tired easily, but he's also very patient, has good timing, and can explode at any given time.

              lol.

You know they said the same about Marquez, De la Hoya, Hatton, Mosley & Cotto.
He would take Canelo to school no problem. But as soon as he does, people like you will say: "Well he wasn't that good anyway. ***** Mayweather will never fight Bradley". and so it goes.

Bring on Canelo-Mayweather next year for Cinco De Mayo

First of all, I didn't care who won the Canelo-Trout bout. 2ndly, based on what I have been seeing and did see last night, Canelo is not in Floyd's league skill wise, speed wise, intelligence wise, accuracy wise, footwork wise, agility wise, and STAMINA wise. (that's a lotta wises lol).

3rdly, with that being said, If I'm Mayweather, bring on Canelo because this will be an easy, HUGE, MEGA payday for Floyd, and GoldenBoy as well.

Last night, Oscar spoke at great length about how to unlock the "Mayweather Code" with the jab. Grant it, ODLH did have great success with his jab for the 1st half of the fight until Floyd adjusted and ODLH gassed out. The problem with ODLH advice is that Canelo's jab is not great.

Last night Canelo was having difficulty closing the gap/distance and landing the jab consistantly because Trout was creating distance with his decent footwork and decent circling skills. Not one notable time did Canelo trap Trout and **** out his body like he did against lesser opponents. So, how in the HELL can ODLH and/or Canelo expect to be a challenge for Floyd?

Answer: Canelo is not a challenge for Floyd.
