Canelo's defense, intangible, and possibly speed grades are going to be higher in the post-fight report card.
He gets defensively careless, at times, when he doesn't respect his opponents' offense, but he's actually good defensively. Not sure how you got the impression that Alvarez' transitions and defense is poor because his counterpunching is one of his strong suits; he'll land counterpunches several times a fight and this fight won't be any diffferent. Also, his excellent timing and good handspeed is going to make it appear as if he's just as fast as Trout.
Tonight, people will actually notice what they've already seen, but overlooked because it's been against lesser competition.
I had Trout winning but there were some sound observations here. Kudos. Alavarez showed a lot of good stuff and he's not done developing yet.
LOL...it's been a year with a lot of REAL evenly matched fights. Look at the tallies Lem puts together at Ring...few are batting much above .500. That said, I was like 20-4 or something this time last year. It's all just balance in the universe.
can't wait for your next prediction.
I just hope you don't start letting this "dry" spell influence your pick and analysis. lol

Thanks...
Canelo definitely brought the observations to life. He constantly put his counter jab to good use, used solid head movement and overall defense, and his timing and handspeed to equalize Trout's speed advantage. He does still have room to develop, specifically, his stamina and ability to discern range better against quicker opponents.
