  • I always laugh at the Floyd apologist fan boys, they act like HBO took a huge loss, because Floyd left haahah, Tyson left HBO and so did Julio Cesar Chavez both went to Showtime and HBO still survived.

Floyd is on his way out, so Canelo going to Showtime is more of a loss for the company, he is a future star depending on if he beats Trout or not.

Duh, it's not about what you have done..it's about what can you do for me in the future....and Canelo has years of money to be made for networks, Mayweather has only 2-3 years.

Obviously losing the younger bigger star is a bigger blow than losing the guy on the way out.

      • It was pretty obvious the numbers would drop.

HBO as a brand alone attracts way more viewers.

HBO won't even take a huge loss if Pacquiao leaves/retires. Why?

Because most of their budget goes into this:

And the profits they get from home video and other merchandising is in the hundreds of millions.

Floyd apologists don't even like Canelo. They always think in terms of Floyd's moves. He moves to Showtime, they'll suddenly hate HBO. He goes back to HBO, they flip flop. I can recall when Arum took his mega fight to SHO they're all singing hosannas for HBO as if it's the greatest network in the world and at the same time berating Showtime.

            • GOT is amazing and that's what I don't get, why is HBO acting bitter about the whole thing, if they truly didn't care (they really shouldn't) why blacklist fighters just because ONE is no longer there? makes no sense, HBO's bills are paid, and always will be.

              • id say Floyd pretty much let HBO down and had to leave to go to a network that was low in ratings. So they offered him more to hopefully bring up the ratings up in sports. Sadly he has exhausted his popularity by his time off in the ring over the years. He needs to use showtime to build back what he loss!

How do you think HBO is but sore? HBO has been around longer than Floyd has been alive! I think they can live without the little Floyd brings to their table.
If they wanted him to stay they would have paid him more than showtime. It is just because he is NOT worth it to them to keep!
