According to promoter Mariusz Kolodziej of Global Boxing Promotions, heavyweight veteran David Tua (52-4-2, 43 KOs) in interested in securing a bout with Polish giant Mariusz Wach (27-1, 15 KOs). The fight between the two may take place in August, most likely in New Zealand.

Currently Wach is suspended by July by German Boxing Commission for using illegal drugs which were detected after his fight against heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko last year. 40-year old Tua has been inactive since August of 2011, when he suffered an unanimous decision loss in a rematch bout against Monte Barrett.

Unusual but interesting matchup. Tua is a relic from the talent rich hw division of the 90's, stands 5'10" but is still the ever power puncher. Wach stands at 6'7", has a granite chin but is far from elite.

Tua wants to market a fight that would get exposure due to the fact that Wach fought Wladimir and went 12 rounds with him. Wach would get a chance to fight a high profile name in NZ, since he can't fight in Germany or the US due to his ban. I wouldn't mind watching this fight, btw.

This fight would be a stinker. Wach stinks and Tua is 40 and has fought 5 times since 2007. Look for Wach to lean all over a fat, old Tua a secure a boring decision.
