Ali made up for his boring style by being the Louisville lip. Floyd was never a crowd pleaser but he also uses his self promotion skills to sell, unless Rigo can do that which he can't he doesn't know English and Cuba has an embargo, he is pretty much screwed, this why its important for him to be exciting, Nonito didn;t do jack but move forward, Rigo problem is he didn;t capitalize till the 12th round. Floyd capitalized on Diego who fought similar to Nonito walking forward like a zombie wide open, if Rigo did that I would praise him hard. I would love to see a rematch at 126
Boxing Snobs calling people casual fans for not appreciating slick boxing

You do realize, this thread just proves the point as to why people do this~
It is such an easy way to get a rise out of peopleComment

Casual fans are fans who just don't know better to differentiate when they're watching a great boxing lesson or a snooze fest most of them are just salty the guy they wanted to win is getting whipped and that is why they make threads boo etc. Takes great skill to neutralize the other guy while whipping him but of course nobody wants to see the fighter they profess is going to win be made to look like a helpless toddler.Comment

Greatest thing about boxing is you can decide on your own free will when to he finish arrives, dictating that early arrival is the glory of the sport and the reason why it has lasted through the ages.
Boring fights followed by questionable judging almost destroyed the sport.Comment

Not really on topic, but low output fighters like that are a huge pain in the judging world. You have to choose between the guy who lands only a few but clean shots, against a guy who's more wild, but presses the action more. Ring Generalship is a subjective term.Exactly my point, and the only time they use Sweet Science is to refer to low punch output super defensive back steppers, which is a load of bull, that is only one aspect of boxing. So Roberto Duran, julio chavez sr, Joe Frazier, must not be legends since they never took a backwards step.
Sweet science includes all aspects and styles. But these guys love to own the word for slick or super defensive boxers only.
People on this board live in this fantasy world where they believe that only slick, low output, potshotting, defensive fighters are the ones capable of scoring the rounds. I'm not sure where this originated from honestly. I think it may give them a false sense of authority when they see they go against the grain and it somehow makes them more of a boxing "analyst". But I just leave them to it.
The bigger problem on this board are the Mayweather fights. I'm automatically accused of being a hater, or accused of "giving rounds to the guy who didn't lose as bad as expected" because I don't give Mayweather rounds where he potshots a little bit, and hardly moves. I've been in my local judging/refereeing circuit for a while, and I can say that the community is split on the issue there. I'd just ignore anyone who hides behind a "sweet science" or "hit and not be hit" persona thing and carry on as normalComment
