Comments Thread For: Moscow Presser Notes: Povetkin-Wawrzyk Lands, More

A huge presser, featuring IBHOF entrant Don King, his Russian counterpart Vladimir Hryunov, WBA cruiserweight champions (reigning and “in recess”) Denis Lebedev (25-1, 19 KOs) and Guillermo Jones (38-3-2, 30 KOs), finished a couple of hours ago in Moscow, Russia. While being initially dedicated to the main event of the evening, cruiserweight unification under the aegis of the World Boxing Association, the presser has been given another pulse, when promoter Vladimir Hryunov and local business tycoon Andrey Ryabinskiy, announced that the show would actually be a doubleheader.

    Very good card here

    Povetkin vs Wawrzyk
    Lebedev vs Jones
    Chudynov vs Brewer
    Kucher vs TBA
    Postol vs TBA
    Mystery HW debut????

I am most intrigued about the mystery HW that is going to debut Hryunov says is a real name and will shock people for the good. My biggest hope would be Omarov but since he's only 22 and has yet to win any major tournament except the European Championships even though he's a top 5 amateur SHW i doubt it's him. More likely is Sergei Kuzmin who would be a pretty exciting addition to the pro ranks, hope its him.

Instead of fighting the Wawrzyk's and Pianeta's next month, Wlad and Povetkin ought to have been fighting each other - this is BS from a fans perspective.

I can't imagine Haye being willing to take on a good heavyweight like Kubrat Pulev.

He'll take the path of least resistance to another Klitschko payday.

Very correct, now we just need a Haye - bum fight and the early HW fights of this year will be total disappointment.

At least we have Audley-Wilder and Price-TT II to look forward to.

They are just taking the path of least resistance. Getting good pay for low risk fights.

Its the way the heavyweight division works now, which in turn is why it sucks. If the were only one sanctioning org this would be impossible to see as regularly as we do. But because bozo's buy into there being 4 or more tile belts this is what we'll get from now on.
