    Javier Fortuna

Well, Javier Fortuna is fighting this Friday on FNF and I heard that his dad passed away recently (mid Feb) and I'm wondering if that will affect how he fights at all. What do you guys think? I'm wondering if this makes fighters more emotional and, perhaps, more reckless. And we all know that Fortuna can get a little wild at times. And let's not forget that maybe he was not as focused during his training since his mind was probably on his dad. Anyway...I was thinking about how these kind of situations can affect fighters during training and during a fight.

I don't know but I know he has one of my favorite knockouts in recent history.

I think it all depends on the person man. Look at what Favre did the game after his dad passed away.

This is also like a short notice opponent isn't it?

Nah, actually I think he had at least 3-4 months notice for this fight because I think it was mentioned on this site a little while back. I think it was just not confirmed early. But I think he usually keeps himself in shape all year round so it's not a problem. Now, this fight I'm assuming since he is defending will be at 126lbs, right? I'm wondering if he will move up cuz some people were mentioning how making weight might be affecting his stamina...

Was it? I didn't hear about this fight till a week or two ago. The fight SHOULD be at 126 but Idk. And I was one of those guys saying I don't like him fighting at 126. What's the point? He's never getting John's belt anyway.

Yeah, I agree and he probably has better fights at 130 @ 135lbs if he is comfortable there and if he can carry his power that far up.....I'm thinking he can. I would love to see him fight someone like Salido and see how does there. Well, let's see what happens after this fight.

I think he will be alright man. I don't wanna say he's over it but it's been over a month now so the "initial feel" is probably gone by now. He needs a good showing tho cause a lot of people were disappointed in his last performance (not me).
