I read an article a while ago about a series of writers/journalist wanting to create a NEW organization to rank fighters...but i cant seem to locate it, anyone know what im talking about??

The belt is a sham too...

They hardly reflect any sort of lineage anymore. Hernandez got the RING belt from beating Cunningham whom he already beat, because Huck challenged Povetkin. They didn't wait to see if Huck was staying at Heavyweight. You have a situation where the two best Cruiserweights at the time, Huck and Hernandez, never fought, but one of them was recognised by the RING...

Mayweather-Guerrero is also for the RING belt. The only fight at Welterweight currently that should warrant any type of lineage is Mayweather-Marquez 2. Even if Mayweather has beaten Marquez before, he never beat Marquez when he was ranked no.2 in the division behind him. He beat him after making him come up. Noone knows how different it would be right now.

Garcia/Khan seems weird for the belt too. Peterson beat Khan, he kept his belt, and was ranked and not removed from the division. Bad decision? Sure. But if I wanted to keep the RING belt worth something, i'd have kept it away despite the controversy here.

I even have reservations regarding Trout-Canelo for the RING belt. Canelo is rightly ranked around 4/5/6 at 154, so how this fight warrants any type of lineage is beyond me. However, i'm not too mad about this, given not many 154lbers have fought eachother, though i'm still not happy about the RING seemingly desperate to give their belts away.

The RING belt is worthless nowadays. I'm glad TBRB has come along and given a solid replacement.

I wish the BWAA would have their own rankings, and we could by those.

i like the philosophy of the TBRB..they know whats up. They also put Rigondeaux in their top 10 where he belongs.

Cleaning out a division with ease, and being a multi-weight champion is on a level playing field to me. Just beating 1 fighter in the division, regardless if he's seen as the best there or not, doesn't warrant the same type of recognition to me. It's only one style of fighter that has been beaten, not everyone in the division. 168 was HOT at the time.

That's why I rank Ward way higher than Rigo.

I think this is the best list that nearly everyone can adhere to really. Obviously we all have personal little changes to make to it, but it's contains most of what we'd all agree with.

Bad look by The Ring, keeping Broner, Guerrero, and Donaire in, but leaving Rigo out. This is just garbage, plain and simple.
