Filipino boxing judge Rey Danseco will be one of three officials at ringside this Saturday for the Light Middleweight unification match between WBC champion Saul Alvarez and WBA’s Austin Trout.

Danseco will be joined by fellow judges, Stanley Christodoulou of South Africa and Javier Alvarez of Texas at The Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas while Laurence Cole of Texas will be the referee.

This will be Danseco’s second trip to the Lone Star State, having judged another championship duel between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Andy Lee at The Sun Bowl in El Paso last year. The young judge will be arriving in San Antonio on Thursday which will give him ample time to be at the weigh-in ceremonies and the rules meeting afterwards.

Danseco who was the WBC’s 2012 Boxing Judge of The Year and the recipient of the Elorde Award for Judge of The Year for three straight years has been a ring official for nine years, dating back to 2004.

He has worked more than 80 international boxing matches and about 25 world championship assignments besides being a regular choice in local matches in the Philippines.

Either way, Cole should not be allowed in a boxing arena other than as a spectator. He's lucky his daddy runs the Texas Athletic Commission or he would get no work.

Diverse judges, no issues. But Cole sucks. The worse ref I've ever seen, the only guy who slaps the fighters hands to get a break and inserts himself way too much. Canelo should miss with a left hook and knock him out.

Danseco had Lee ahead of Chavez at the time of the stoppage...that's his only singificant bout...

                  Nothing on Alvarez...

Christodoulou had Erdei over Grachev 96-94 (the other 2 scored it for Grachev)

Koki Kameda over Hugo Ruiz, had it 117-113 Ruiz (the other 2 scored it for Kameda)

Was 1 of 2 judges that had Geale over Sturm

                  Had Povetkin over Huck 116-112

Had Trout over Rigoberto Alvarez 119-108

                  Mosley over DLH 115-113

                  Norwood over Marquez 115-111

Lewis over Holyfield 116-113 (1 judge had for Holyfield, 1 even)

Is by far the most experienced of the bunch
