Great observations !! I made several of those same ones myself - that knockdown was completely avoidable and the end result of some dirty boxing on Donaire's part, but its Rigondeaux's responsibility to protect hiself at all times.

It's really not worth it to collect any other belts, just defend the two you've earned and save any additional sanction fees, especially IBF because they're the highest - everyone knows that he is the man and he can just rack up on spectacular stoppage after another at 122lbs until time dulls his reflexes

Well he definitely has a keen eye for mistakes. The fact that he is trying to convert Rigo in the "perfect" fighter is hilarious. C'mon man.. adjusting your trunks? Looking at the ref? Holy crap! lol

As a fellow Nacho-natic (terrible, I know, but Cult of Rigo is taken), I hope you can see the larger point. The little things that Rigo did wrong are not big in the grand scheme of things, but pros like Floyd or Nonito or JMM dont' do them for a reason.

Its not a human nature thing to look at the ref when the boxers is in front of you, its a hold over from amateur days. Avoidable.

No big deal; I'm just excited for Rigo. He might be 32 (who knows), but since el Terrible retired and JMM is on his last legs, i got someone new to spank it to.

My money is on the Mijares - Terrazas winner. We all know how Uncle bob works. He is going to try to capitalize on the Mexican market.

Nothing would be sweeter than Rigo unifying all that gold.

I really don't see anyone in or around Rigo's weight class beating him...the closest guys (and in this order)...

Mares
Mikey Garcia
Moreno

Garcia and Moreno are both boxers. Moreno is a brilliant boxer but he doesn't have the power. Garcia would give Rigo more trouble than Donaire but I think Rigo's speed would win out. Mares showed the blueprint on how to fight a superior boxer in his Moreno fight. He MADE Moreno fight his fight. Only problem is, Moreno has no power. Rigo would make Mares pay for his aggression, but I still say he has the best chance.

I think Rigo will fight the Terrazas/Mijares winner next, then fulfill his WBA mandatory obligation against Quigg, and then fight Darchinyan (assuming he wins his fight in May) early next year.

Personally, I think beating Donaire/Terrazas/Quigg would put him up in contention for FOTY.

He starts talking about Rigondeaux at 2:39. Sounds like he doesn't feel ready for the step-up. I wonder if the WBA will force the fight to happen though.

No need for a Donaire rematch.. It would be the same out come, Donaire might win 1 or 2 more extra rounds but his 1 punch trying to KO his opponent style doesnt match well with a pot shot back peddler.
