Its cool tho cause he wasn't even affected by the KD and squashed all the chin questions.

I do agree with the rest of your post tho. Mares will definitely eat some body shots too IMO. That will slow him down for sure.

I don't think people STILL fully comprehend Rigo's abilities and his punching power. To drop someone as big as Marroquin and to be pushing back Donaire (who he also stunned) means something.

Rewatched it and looks like you were right, he looked like he was waiting for a break and let his guard down for a split second. I think everyone thinks if you just smother Rigo, you can beat him. It is not that easy, he threw some uppercuts at Donaire when Nonito got close, that definitely had him thinking twice about coming into Rigo.

Rigo isn't going to lose for a long time and I'm going to enjoy this ride, which hopefully ends at the top of the P4P list.

Mares's hold and hit style is the only style that might have a chance against Rigondo's running style. Mares will rough up Rigondo and that might throw Rigondo off his game. Mares might have the chin to eat Rigondo's pot shots.

If Mares can overcome De Leon's size and power advantages, I pick him to beat Rigo at (126).

The uppercut which I saw him practicing on the mitts definitely landed. He usually throws it to the body but he was hitting Donaire upstairs with it. The right hook was also making Donaire hesitate. Its easy to apply pressure but not easy to make it effective.

Donaire fell victim to Arum's matchmaking. He thought this would be another "come in and knock him out with my left hook" fight. This is another reason why I'm picking Trout over Canelo. He thinks he just gonna steamroll like he did those other guys.

Mares simply does not have the stature nor the power, and even he will tire at some point and have to rejuvenate by taking a round off. He needs to be dynamic and change the tempo on a dime, but not allow himself to lose his composure offensively. He could pressure non-stop against Moreno because he wasn't afraid of what was coming back at him. I can't see that being the case with Rigo.

Mares's team would have to come up with a hell of a game-plan.
Mares needs to smother rigo make it ugly. You cant stand infront of rigo and do nothing like donaire. Mares is willing to take shots unlike donaire sure it might cost him but he needs to take risk. Rigo needs room to punch but mares can still get his punches off in the clinch or real close.

His lead right hook never seemed to miss. That is really what Donaire is though, if you can take my left hook, you can beat me because I can not adjust to you. Rigo took it away within a minute and a half. Very athletic and gifted fighter, but a one trick pony when face with a skilled boxer.

I'm picking Trout too, mostly because Canelo is not going to bully him like he has with everyone else. Trout needs to throw that straight left to the body like he did vs Cotto, make Canelo wary of it from the opening bell.

Exactly rigo doesnt fight off the clinch which mares excells at. He needs to be on him the whole night and not give him any room to punch.

the difference between Moreno and rigo besides a obvious power and height diff is that Moreno wanted to hit and move his game plan was the movement and not the countering. Stop the movement you stop the gameplan. For the first 5-6 rounds last night rigo was content to stand in front of donaire and counter from there. Rigo is a defensive fighter but quickly and fluidly transitions to offense, Moreno attempts to get set at a different location. Its easier to rush someone who isn't set, rigo is rarely off balance or not ready to punch.

With Rigo constantly pawing his right along with his hand speed Donaire couldn't see it.

Let's go Trout! Derail GB's plans like Rigo did TR's.
