Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: No Issue Making Garcia-Matthysse Next

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has no issue matching WBA/WBC junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia against his mandatory challenger Lucas Matthysse. Golden Boy has a plan for an internal junior welterweight tournament. On April 27th, Garcia will defend his titles against former champion Zab Judah at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The winner of the match is reportedly going to face the winner of the May 18th battle between Matthysse and IBF champion Lamont Peterson.

De La Hoya says matching the two winners is still the plan for 2013, and he doesn't have a problem making a Garcia-Matthysse match if both fighters win in the coming weeks. The overall winner between the two fights is going to face Amir Khan, who also returns on April 27th but in Sheffield against Julio Diaz.

Why is Khan in the running, excellent question. An even better question is "how the hell is Khan Floyd's number 2"??

No way should Khan get the winner of this Tourney unless he beats a top 5 guy, not fair at all if he beats another Molina/Diaz an gets in through the side door

GB knows Top Rank has outdone them so far with their fights and they have no choice but to make Garcia vs Matthysse to keep up.

Cuz GB really like Khan... he still has a large following despite the losses but its still BS though. If GB puts Khan fights ill be rooting for another KO.
