One of my favorite fighters of all time, Larry Holmes, sometimes doesn't get the credit he deserves IMO.
His career was shadowed by brutally beating a national hero in Muhammad Ali. Then was the Cooney farce, where the boxing world engaged in a another war between black and white. He was not a liked man by the general public, which was best shown by the two robberies he suffered against Michael Spinks.
He only got his due credit when he came back against Ray Mercer in '92.
In his prime, Larry Holmes could do anything. IMO he has the best jab in the history of the HW division and has the speed and athleticism to trouble anyone. And he was mean too. Which IMO some of the current HW crop misses.
How do you think Larry Holmes would have done in today's era? Particularly against the champions and top contenders.
