Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia on Facing Rigondeaux, Donaire's Return

Yea wrong guy! I thought Diaz was perfect for Rigo bc they worked together in Cuba so they would feel comfortable with one another!!!Comment

No way in hell Robert Garcia allows Mikey to get in their with Rigondeaux anytime soon! And I don't blame him, Mikey is still a very young fighterComment

Donaire being too aggressive is an overstatement by Mikey. Donaire threw only 352 total punches to Rigo's 396 while only landing 82 punches the ENTIRE fight. Nonito needed to be the aggressor to not only look good but also to win. Instead he was too timid to lead the action because every time he thought about sitting on a punch he got caught. Rigo's skill set is extraordinary: speed, technique, defense will more than likely trump offensive minded fighters.Comment

I don't want Rigo to move up to 126 for anything less than a $1 million plus payday.
He was at a 10 pound weight disadvantage last night. Imagine at 126?
Just be king of 122. Defend your belts, become undisputed champ, clean out all the new entrants and close out your career strong.Comment

I like Mikey but Donaire is not better than Rigondeaux. This wasn't just an "off night", this was a total domination by Rigondeaux. Nonito looked like an amateur because of what Rigondeaux did. Nonito just wasn't able to do anything because Rigondeaux had massive skills and a great gameplan.
IMO if Nonito and Rigo fight 10 times, Rigo wins at least 9 out of 10. The guy is just too good.Comment

Neither Garcia or Rigo have many options at their weights. Unless Rigo knows he can't do 126, and they can't find a reasonable catchweight, this is kind of the only fight for both. Unless Garcia moves up.
Wouldn't be surprised if Arum pushed for it.Comment

i think mikey may be better than donaire but i'm not sure if he can beat rigo and honestly i don't know why would anyone even want to see a mikey-rigo fight after all the complaining people were doing after the donaire-rigo fightComment

Rigo has plenty of options at 122. They will be downgrades from Donaire but so will Mikey Garcia. He can fight Romero for the IBF then whoever wins the WBC belt. There's also Frampton. He has a great chance of becoming undisputed because all the fights are doable and he's THE man of the division.Originally posted by bojangles1987Quote:
