Also Nonito needs to add a little jumpstep to his hooks. He was missing horribly with his homerun hooks in the championship rounds while getting tagged by rigo's straighter shots. Rigo is on the outside.. U aint gonna hit him with a hook with your damn feet planted. You need to take your chances and jump him.
Rigondeaux, seriously dude?!

One thing people still clearly miss is that he was an 11 fight, 4 year rookie pro going in against a prime, HOF, multiple division champion who has proven his mettle many times over across a 33 fight, 13 year pro career.
He is still learning his pacing. I guarantee that he was pacing himself in the middle rounds because he's still not fully sure of his stamina. He's only been past eight rounds two times in his life. Clearly he had worked hard enough for it though because he dominated the start of the fight and the championship rounds and nearly stopped Donaire late, which was considered to be Donaire's period of the fight going in, because of his experience and many times going past eight rounds.
Don't forget, despite all his amateur experience, this was still an 11 fight rookie pro, without a single elite pro fight, going in against a prime P4P champ with every advantage.
I don't doubt for a second that his 'lull' in the middle rounds was entirely due to his inexperience over the distance and the fact that he'd only had 11 pro fights. For a guy going in against Donaire, it doesn't matter how many amateur fights you've had, because the pro game is way too different. No matter how many amateur fights you've had it does not prepare you for going the distance in a world championship fight against the elite, proven guys. What amazes me is that he won the start of the fight, and won the championship rounds too.
I was more amazed that his 'lull' was so short and still consisted of him winning the rounds. Not only that, but he came back to win the championship rounds which is the truest mark of a great fighter.
Did you miss the fight? When he had Donaire hurt badly he tried to go for it. Donaire is a tough bastard and very dangerous when hurt because he has such fight changing counters. Rigo went after Donaire big time in what was supposed to be Donaire's field during the championship rounds and nearly stopped him. For a guy with so few fights, he has done what no one else has gotten close to doing. That's embarrassing on Donaire's part. To lose the championship rounds against a guy with 11 pro fights who has only been more than 8 rounds two times.

Like I said I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Rigo boxed beautifully.
Donaire had no answers for Rigo. NONE. You casual fans should be mad at Donaire.Comment

When he had Donaire down to one eye and one hand he chased him and couldn't do ****. The only punch Nito was throwing was the left hook and Rigo couldn't mount any kind of offense.Comment

lol survive the rest of the fight as in the last minute where Martinez thought he had it in the bag after 11 rounds of complete domination.Comment

Chavez was on drugs so nothing he does counts.
But...I think:
1) If Nonito just sat back, not pushed the action and avoided the straight left he could have won one of the most boring decisions in the history of superfights.
2) If we went 'Andre Ward' on Rigo and out-bullied him he could have dominated.Comment

for real...?Cong**** to Rigondeaux!
But what the ****?! He treated ‘the fight’ like an amateur! He got mad skills and yet he potshots like he’s going for his 3rd Olympic gold! This ain’t a touch ‘n go god damn it! He sure has a hell lot of chance KO’ing Donaire if he was more aggressive; he’s got lightning fast hands and reflexes. Why is he too damn cautious when he’s toying Donaire much of the fight?! Pretty sure the booing that resonated all throughout is not for Nonito! But on a second thought, if he engaged Donaire more, he could’ve landed on his arse a dozen more times. Watching him fight is more painful than a Pac left, I promise!
I want Donaire to move up and be a 5 division champ! He should only accept a rematch if Rigondeaux signed it on the rematch clause that he’s going to throw 200 punches every single round otherwise the round automatically goes to Nonito!
