By Luis Sandoval - Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (12-0, 8KOs) put on a brilliant performance as he schooled Nonito Donaire (31-2, 20KOs) over twelve rounds in front of a sold out crowd at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Scores were 114-113, 115-112, and 116-111.

In a fight for super bantamweight supremacy, it was Rigondeaux who displayed his boxing acumen as he dominated and rendered Donaire ineffective for arguably the first time in his career. Donaire may have had more professional experience but it was Rigondeaux who looked like the seasoned veteran, and maybe because he was.

Rigondeaux got off to a fast start in the opening stanza of the fight as a straight left hand landed on Donaire and made him stagger back. Both fighters would open up but it was the undefeated Cuban who was getting the better of the exchanges. Tremendous speed and power by Rigondeaux. I was slightly edging Donaire to win, but when I saw Rigondeaux land that left in the 1st round that sent Donaire stumbling backward. I just chuckled to myself and said "Oh sh-t, this is going to be along night for Donaire".

Tremendous speed and power by Rigondeaux. I was slightly edging Donaire to win, but when I saw Rigondeaux land that left in the 1st round that sent Donaire stumbling backward. I just chuckled to myself and said "Oh sh-t, this is going to be along night for Donaire".

It's amazing how that punch defined the route of the fight. Nonito realized that Rigondeaux was very powerful and then he wasn't so eager to engage.

Totally shocked by what happened tonight, I've never seen an odds favorite fight so scared practically 95% of the fight..Also can people now get off Garcia's jock as a trainer. Who the hell trains a fighter over the phone and at that does not even bother to go over fight tape with him...seriously! The dude chose training camp with Brandon Rios over Donaire? Donaire looked god awful tonight, no sense of urgency, when he applied pressure he had success. I was waiting for him to push forward and try to back rigo into corners but he just let him dance around all night. Hella props to Rigo tho..he made Donaire look like a noob to the sport.
