Comments Thread For: Macklin on Golovkin: I'm The Better, More Seasoned Pro

Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20KOs) is very confident that he can derail the power-puncing run of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23KOs). The HBO televised main event will take place on June 29th at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, CT.

Macklin feels a lot better than he did against Sgerio Martinez, who stopped the UK fan-favorite in the eleventh round of a tough fight. Macklin came back in September and knocked out former champion Joachim Alcine in the first round. [Click Here To Read More]

I would love for Macklin to win but I really can't see it.

His best chance is to jab & move & tie GGG up but he likes a barney too much.

Been looking around last night couldn't find the Alcine fight anywhere, but he did some good things vs Sergio. He just needs to stick with it. He can't tire out vs GGG or it's curtains.

Kind of curious about Macklin's power...is Alcine just ruined or has Macklin's power improved? I know that was more of a tune-up and paper belts don't really mean ****, but Alcine isn't a complete bum (if one at all).

Macklin might be more seasoned but GGG is more fresher and more hungry, Macklin experience wouldn't count for much in this fight.
