Comments Thread For: Donaire: Rigo is Smart, But Always Does The Same Thing

NEW YORK -- As Nonito Donaire prepares for his first of 2013, on the heels of a banner 2012 which saw him named the BWAA's Fighter of the Year, he reflected on his accomplishments and feels there is nothing left to prove in the sport, even in the face of perhaps his biggest challenge in the form of Guillermo Rigondeaux on Saturday at Radio City Music Hall on HBO.

On what is left to prove in the sport:

“I don’t need to prove anything anymore. I've done everything I needed to do in boxing. I’ve accomplished a lot more than a lot of people in the boxing world. For me, it’s pretty much another day, another step to say ‘I told you so.’” [Click Here To Read More]

I see this, on paper rigo is a beast. And in the ring he has looked good vs marginal opposition and and has had vulnerablities vs two of his dozen fights

Donaire has almost half of rigos total fights in one yr

Donaire is not afraid to lose and dares to be greater then great

Rigo wants to cut in line ,steal the show and stinks joints up and has never faced a pro fighter as smart ,hits as fast and hard as nonito without head gear
Rigo is afraid to lose and will feel out ,whole donaire fights straight up

I see rigo wants to test himself
Donaire is flat out confident in who he is and has no fear
    Mental forditude....

Nonito wants ice him and will go for it smart.

I heard a lot about the stare downs and what not and I saw them as well but I do not pick up confidence from Donaire's words. He implies confidence but talks as if he didn't want this fight and was pressured into taking it.

Also, he keeps giving me the impression he is going to come out swinging to try and put Rigo out from the git-go, I don't know if that is such a smart move. Donaire is a tremendous boxer so he may just be able to do it as I've seen him beat up some quality guys and we haven't seen Rigo up against this kind of fighter before.

            Always does the same thing?

Sounds like Donaire is talking about himself here.

I think Rigo has the edge in this fight, but things can change fast if Donaire lands flush on Rigo's chin.Awesome fight, give us a war.
