Fellas-
wondering if anyone can shed some light on my situation:
im 34 now- when i was about 27 i punched a wall (with the left hand, im a southpaw) in extreme frustration and ended up going to the hospital as it swelled a lot and hurt like hell. I think there was a tiny fracture a boxers break at the time. I got a splint thing and wore it for a while, maybe a few weeks, and basically just moved on and forgot about it as the swelling and pain left.
since then ive had basically no issues other than the wrist does a tiny click when i twist it back and forth, its pretty sublte but i can feel it when i twist it really slowly. Fast foward to a few months ago when i got an 80lb heavy bag and began working out on it regularly. Basically my left wrist is quite sore at this point when i push down with my thumb onto my index finger. If you were to hold your fist in a hammer grip fashion the pain comes right off the base of the thumb extending down to the wrist. A few times I have landed the left hand wrong on the bag resulting in immediate pain to that exact area which is what triggered this lingering pain. This soreness when i squeeze has been goin on for like 2.5 months or something!? I dont get why it wont pass. the other thing with my left hand is that my pinky finger when squeezed slightly at the base is sore as hell too. I havent had an x-ray which I imagine i should do. If its a sprain from landing the left hand incorrectly a few times would it linger this long? what it there to be done for a sprain exactly, if thats what it is-- this situation is really annoying me. I still hit the bag but am careful with the left and wrap it really well with mexican wraps which i much prefer. I want this to pass asap so I can continue my training with zero pain!!! i hope this made some sense, please any thoughts would be appreciated- thanks for reading...
