I guess that's why Andre Ward, Roy Jones Jr, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya, Lennox Lewis, Floyd Mayweather and Pernell Whitaker never amounted to **** when they turned professional. All of those fighters were Olympians who won medals but when they turned pro they just couldn't hang with the big boys right?

There's always the occasional bust; but, usually, an Olympic champion does okay. What to say about Rigo, a double amateur champion, double Olympic gold medalist and amateur legend? If "El Chacal" loses to Donaire on Saturday, it won't be because amateur glory means nothing, it'll be because Nonito is that good.

I'm really hoping both fighters stay to their word and are aggressive. The judges love aggressiveness and you can't be passive.

I can think of a few. David Reid, Tyrell Biggs and Audley Harrison come to mind. Joel Casamayor was pretty good but not great. Amir Khan? Well you see what he's going through right now.

If Nonito wins this weekend he deserves all the credit in the world. It amazes me that some fans will call Rigo a bum yet if Nonito were to win this fight they would bring this up as one of his great accomplishments. So they'll be proud that their hero beat someone who before the fight they ridiculed as a glass jawed amateur.

Heh, heh, heh...you're right. I have no use for anyone who thinks that way. Serious fans will know the truth. The real test is not the outcome, but what's on display. If Donaire tears through Rigo in one or two rounds, hell, I'll even admit Guillermo was overrated. But if Rigondeaux gives Nonito hell (let alone wins), I'll consider it vindication. There can only be one "best." It doesn't make one a "bum" to lose to a top P4P fighter. It also doesn't make one a "bum" to lose to an Olympic legend....

i doubt he will..but if rigo senses that he has donaire hurt he'll rush in and attack like he usually does. but then he runs the risk of getting caught with a strong counter punch.

It goes both ways. You just have to look on the other side. Better yet previous threads how Nonito is a no skill bob hype job yet if rigo gets the win, that no skill bob hype job will be his biggest win to date. It is what it is.

dont get me wrong, i truely think rigo is a great boxer but donaire is gonna make him look like what he exactly is....... an amateur.
If Rigondeax brings his A-game, and by all appearances this week in NYC he very well may, hecould walk Donaire down methodically as he did Teon Kennedy last year in a masterful display of technical knowledge and skills. Heshould come out from round 1 an assert his ring generalship and defensive dominance ala Floyd or Pernell - winning one round after another with a superb execution of his his A-game.

As Rigondeax imposed himself on Teon Kennedy so should he impose his defensive dominance on Donaire, sweep the first three rounds with pure boxing brilliance then begin bringing the thunder iround 4.

Its always advisable to "box" first then "fight" later in my view because if you "fight" first you may not be in any condition to "box" later.
