Lightweight champion Diego "Chico" Corrales suffered a rib injury while training this week forcing the postponement of his world title defense rematch against José Luis Castillo. Castillo-Corrales III, promoted by Top Rank and Gary Shaw Productions, was scheduled to take place Saturday, Feb. 4, and televised live on SHOWTIME from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. Bob Arum and Gary Shaw announced that they are looking for a new opponent to fight Castillo on Feb. 4. [details]

Go figure. I think Corrales would have won but apart from his excitement level Corrales is too chinny and isn't the type of fighter to have a long reign as a champion.
Castillo is a good fighter with a great heart. I would have rooted for him because Corrales beats women. I remember Diego bringing his girlfriend to a press confence once as evidence of his punching power. Joel Casaymor wasn't impressed and beat him anyhow in that fight.
Women beaters can drop dead. I hope Castillo fights someone else and gets a pay day.Comment

a cotto fight would be a mega fight but cotto would not take this fight with less than month to train for it and i don't blame him ..he would need 3-4 months to prepare for a fight against castillo..Comment
