Haha I think my girl might agree with you about my "****ed up" sense of humor.

Ive NEVER placed a bet on a boxing fight and this one would definitely not be my first.

You win $500 and get your initial investment back

I might put $100 on the fight being a decision

Aiyo man, that's disgusting considering he's always using the same trunks. At least make sure he washes them in front of ya before you get them. As a matter of fact, if you win your bet you should donate to the "Get Rigo a new pair of trunks foundation".

I am surprised that 250 on Rigo does not get you a much bigger payoff than 500. I really though Rigo was a bigger underdog than that.

Haha... With my luck it would end in a draw, if I did that. No lie. This is why I stopped SERIOUS poker. I would have the sickest hands and not win a thing. I just realized that when it comes to playing around with my money my luck just isn't that good.

That's the most common-sense I've seen on this site for s while. ******** is a mugs game. It's an old saying but very true. I had a cousin whoo was a very big bookmaker at the racecourses and dog tracks. He made a fortune at first, byt then after a few years, and he's got used to the high life, his luck changed and he lost everything, had to sell the family silver and the whole faimily sneaked out of the country to the US where he had relatives. He was already middle-aged and knew nothing but ********. Finshed up as an appliance salesman, on his feet 8-10 hours a day....... And i know of several similar others....

I've only made a single boxing bet in my life. This was something that even a conservative like myself couldn't overlook. It was the Wladimir Klitschko-Sam Peter fight1. Knowing my men, Klitschko who could beat anyone on points and Peter who had a steel chin, with the fact that Klitschko wanted to "make a statement" and would be careful not to get KOd. I bet that Klitschko would win on points. I bet a thousand and won an extra $13,500, which was 13 1/2 to 1. A gift .

Rigondeaux, from what I know and I don't know much, is too much of a "dark horse" at this level for only 2-1 odds. against a proven winner like Donaire. To win something worth while, requires too big an investment for a not very reliable return.

                    Just my opinion.

Your comment about having a family to feed inclines me to relate an anecdote. Many years ago back in Dublin I knew a stage actor called Noel Purcell really a vaudeville sort. He was tall, lanky with a prominent nose. He dressed up as a charlady, with an old flowerpot hat, and a pair of boots with striped woollen football stockings. And he's do his 15 minute act three times a day in the local theatres for no more than about 5 pounds a week (about $20 then). He was actually, although well known, a poor man.

By sheer luck, when the British and American film industries turned their eyes on Ireland which was a reservoir of character actors who weren't used to getting big money, they jumped in.

Noel got some small parts as the "typical Irishman" (he had a STRONG Dublin accent) and was doing very well indeed for himself. Then he got prts in famous films like Captain Boycott, The Blue Lagoon, Moby **** and many others including TV series in England. He was coining money, it must have been coming out of his ears.

One day, I was in the Actors guild hall-really a huge room with a long bar- with my friend who was the secretary. Purcell came in, being now very famous locally, and received a dozen or more offers to come and have a drink, from groups around the place. He ignored them all, until he came to just Johnny and myself. Johnny naturally offered him a drink-I was still on lemonade. He cautiously looked around, accepted, and said in an undertone, "I've got ta be careful around them fellas, too many drinks to buy in round with them and I have a family and 6 childer to keep....."

That's what your comment reminded me of, something which took place a lifetime and half a world away from here. In a completely different era and life-style.
