Has there ever been someone to get 3 gift decisions in a row?

Well, I'm no fan of Magdaleno or Martinez but in my opinion Magdaleno as the challenger simply just didn't do enough to take the championship away from Martinez. At least that's what I saw. Now, the fight prior where it was called a draw...yes, I think he lost that one.

IMO you could've given Martinez 2 more rounds MAYBE 3 besides the KD round. Just my opinion tho... The Burgos fight and this fight were no different.

Is Burgos not going to get a rematch? The decision in that fight was as disgraceful as anything we've seen in recent times. I don't have anything against him, he seems like an earnest, hard working type, but Rocky is a fraud of a champion in a weak division.

I think that's unfair. I think he's the hardest working guy in the division.

Miguel Beltran Jr; Juan Carlos; Diego Magdaleno and also fought Ricky Burns about 5 fights ago. Consistent top level competition. He even fought Ricky Burns in his home country and came home with an L, in a fight that I thought could have been a draw.

In his last three, he was expected to lose all three, and he's 2-0-1. Now granted, pay attention, he was given a dubious draw against Burgos, but that happens. I've seen worse decisions in recent times (Campillo/Cloud still makes my stomach churn). Against Beltran and Magdaleno, he consistently landed the harder, more meaningful punches and deserved those razor thin close wins.

I think he'd beat Mendez on points, if not a TKO. Nothing from any vids of Mendez shows he has the power or skills to make Rocky sweat. He'd make it close but Rocky would just keep putting work.

I doubt Gamboa stays at Jr LW, so who else is there for Rocky to knock off? Takashi? I've seen some YT of him, but not enough to say he's good enough to beat Rocky either. Will have to check him out some more

Unfortunately you listed two guys he lost to. And knock off? Who has Martinez exactly knocked off? It's obvious that when he steps up he loses. Burns, Burgos and Magdaleno.

And you don't think Uchiyama is good enough to beat Martinez? Sorry but it doesn't take much to beat Martinez as Burgos already beat him.

Sorry, I'll give you Burgos. At worst a loss, at best a draw...

But he beat Magdaleno fair and square. He got a KD and throughout the fight he landed the cleaner and more significant blows. Magdaleno fought a good fight, but he pressed the action maybe one time and other than a few clean hits, mainly was throwing and landing pawing and pitty pat punches. Sorry, you can't snatch a belt from someone pitty patty them and spending 60+ seconds in a round circling but not throwing or connecting punches. I don't even think Magdaleno out landed or out-punched Martinez.

And Takashi looks like he may have the goods, some speed and power, but the dude is like 34-35 and has never been outside of Japan. I think Rocky is more seasoned, has fought and defended in various locations and most importantly fought better comp. Not saying Takashi can't win, for all I know, he may wreck Martinez's life, but judging on both of their careers, if they fought tomorrow, I'd put my $ on Rocky
