Altogether there are 3,000 television stations across the country. Large international TV expositions, including the Shanghai Television Festival, Beijing International Television Week, China Radio and Television Exposition and Sichuan Television Festival, are held on a regular basis. source

China has the largest number of television viewers in the world - an estimated 95 percent of its 1.3 billion people. There are more than 3,000 channels. source

The one issue I see with viewers outside of Asia namely US is if Pacquiao does stage a PPV over there who's going to buy a 10-11est./7-8wst time PPV they are 12-13 hours ahead what have the fight take place in their mornings?

If they try to charge the popuation how many will actually pay for it doubt too many avergae Chinese only makes around 5-6 grand a year i believe and even the more succesful ones won't probably dish out alot of money for it they literally have to make it a cuople bucks to get enough buys.

It will take years before anyone sees the fruit of this labor in terms of quaility Chinese fighters making it the high levels and even then noone over here will care bcse they'll be in the lower weight classes which doesn't sell in the states although it'll be interesting to see how they can compete with the more succesful Japan/Thai/Phillipines boxers

Boxing is the wrong sport for China.Boxing requires and encourages passion, heart and emotion - hardly the sort of sport for a nation of soulless robots that lack the ability to feel anything.

I wasn't too impressed with Shiming, but this is great for boxing. I hope he gets better.

The fight would most likely happen in the morning over there, like Thrilla in Manila.

Even if they make it ¢50, if 300 million chinese buy it that would add up to $150 million in total revenue = most lucrative ppv of all time.

I agree that it will take a while to see if Shiming's popularity translates into more talented fighters emerging from China but what we do know is that the talent pool will be expanded.
