Boxing pulled 300 million viewers in China

Western sports that claim a strong following in China like snooker and basketball aren't pulling numbers close to this. Snooker finals have pulled around 110 million while a major basketball match between China and the US pulled 187 million. Boxing is also the top sport story on most Chinese websites.

An audience of about 300 million people in China watched television coverage of his fight in Macau. Now promoter Bob Arum feels China is the future of boxing. He says Manny Pacquiao wants his next fight to be in Macau.

Arum is a snake. The sooner he's out of the boxing business the better.

Why is everyone being hostile towards this? You guys care to articulate yourselves and explain why it angers you? BTW, what the hell is snooker?

Only on a boxing forum would you hear "300 million viewers" and get that kind of answer. Such a negative parasitic sport.

Xiong Zhao Zhong also fought in a 40k stadium and was the number 1 trending sport figure for 2 weeks after the fight.

They're also using these fights to build new names on the undercards. Pacman will likely be fighting there too and it will be broadcast a major network allowing more channels of promotion for fighters. Smaller fights have also been known to attract 60-80 million viewers on the regular.

Unbelievable! That is brilliant for the sport. Imagine how much money they could rake in on a PPV event. At least 50M would pay for it. That's enormous!
