In a recent interview with Daily Mail Online, former junior welterweight Amir Khan discussed his April 27th clash with Julio Diaz. The match takes place in Sheffield with a catch-weight of 143-pounds in place. Khan told the paper that his entire is at stake in this match, and suffering another defeat would put the nail in the coffin of his future aspirations. Khan is training in San Francisco with Virgil Hunter.

On Tuesday, Hunter bellowed at Khan to stop midway through sparring as he lounged against the ropes fending off punches with his gloves.

Khan recalled: 'Virgil looked at me and said, "Why the hell are you stood there? It only takes one shot to get through a gap. Think. Move away. Get your boxing head on".

'No one ever told me off like that before. He's disciplined, he's teaching me. He's made me a different fighter defensively. I shouldn't have been getting caught as I was. He said he didn't understand why I always went to war. He drilled into me that if I continued to fight like that I'd always be one punch away from getting hurt. Sometimes, being too ballsy is a bad thing. He's shown me it's better beating my opponent up instead of wanting to knock him out.'

would you rather get punched in the balls by diaz 10 times or make out with khan for appoximately 2 minutes?

I thought Diaz was roadkill for Porter, but he gave him a really tough fight and took way more punishment than I thought possible. Before that he looked to be on the way out, and his chin was never really better than Khan's.

            This is good.

It's going to be a slow process with Khan, Hunter needs to change his entire personality as a fighter and that is going to take time.

I wonder how long Khan will put up with the tough love approach that Virgil is dishing out.

I was speaking to Amir the other day and he said he is already getting sick of it. He said despite what he says to the media he would rather still be with roach, with the reason being - what's the point of training if you are no longer enjoying it.
