Comments Thread For: Team Rubio Will Protest Martinez vs. Chavez Jr. Rematch

The promotional team behind middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio will legally protest a potential Sergio Martinez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. rematch. Rubio recently scored a legal victory when an judge ruled that the World Boxing Council must grant him a mandatory title shot. Rubio's promoter, Reginaldo Kuchle, says the winner of the April 27th battle between Martinez and undefeated challenger Martin Murray must face his boxer next or face the possibility of being stripped.

Obviously Rubio is not interested in fighting GGG, so you can scratch him off the list of guys GGG needs to fight.

"That would be fair".....what would be fair is if GGG or Geale gets a shot at Martinez. Fuck Rubio and Chavez.

I wouldnt call that fair either. Both of those guys have titles already. Rubio is the mandatory by WBC rules. Id rather see a unification, but those guys already have belts

Rubio is not top-tier and has never beaten anyone top-tier. Since losing to Chavez, he went on to beat three nobodies that probably weren't even ranked in the WBC top 10 when he fought them. It's not just about a belt, it's about THE lineal belt and making the best match-ups possible. Martinez/Rubio is definitely not one of them. Hopefully Martinez relinquishes the WBC belt if he's forced to defend it against Rubio.

How is he the mando again?
Isn't he mando because the WBC want to be quite about not testing JCC Jr. after their fight?
