Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Gets Closer To Mayweather-Guerrero Winner

In a very odd move, the WBC has released their new ratings and presented former WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan with the number #2 ranking position, which puts him very close to securing a shot at the winner of the May 4th battle between WBC 147-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and mandatory challenger Robert Guerrero.

Khan is only one position below Luis Carlos Abregu, who faces a very stiff test in Antonin Decarie on April 27th in Argentina. If Abregu is defeated, you could very well see Khan boosted up to the number one spot or get placed in a final eliminator for the mandatory position.

First gets to face the winner of the 140 tourney off facing Julio Diaz or gets a title shot at 147 with no prior fights there.

It stinks. First of all you have the farce of the 140 tournament, where the other lads are putting it on the line for a shot at Khan. Guys that have already beaten him. Then you have these rankings, when the guy hasn't fought in the weight class. This clown has lost 2 of his last 3 and somehow lands on his feet.

That is kind of odd but 147 is not a very good division.

                    15. Pablo Cesar Cano

I kind of like Ed Parades but even Khan with his obvious limitations is the better fighter. If you ace out the other champs which all alphabets do and keep in mind Khan holds victories over 2 current fairly highly rated welters although at 140, it is not that outrageous.
