Power vs. Precision... which would get your score?

When you watch a match-up with one guy who is a power puncher vs a guy who is a better boxer than his opponent, who do you score more rds for? I find it ****** sometimes that if a power puncher lands just 2-3 times vs. the boxer who clearly lands more clean shots, but he has no power? I don't think power should be judged based on experts who have said a puncher is born, not made.

What do you all score rds based more on in this area?

More clean shots but not as powerful since they are scoring

I score on who lands the cleaner more effective punches.

Ummm, well I guess you could take Bradley's last fight, if you box a guy well the entire rd and get hurt at the end of it by one punch, why would anyone score that rd for them?

the rules only mention clean punching. The word power is no where in the rules to my knowledge. TV sells viewers on power punches, but in now way does the harder shot count more.

Anyone who doesnt pick clean puching doesnt know how judges are required to score a fight.

that's how I feel, but they sure do try to sell those power punches.

I tend to score the round for the guy who was controlling it not the guy who managed to land two good shots

Sometimes the guy that's landing a bunch of shots, is pulling his punches and is only playing tag. The guy committing to his shots will come with the intent to finish the fight.

If that's the case, then I'd go with the power puncher, if the other guy was visibly stunned or shook up in any way.

Some people score the more damaging shots. For instance 4 landed jabs vs two thudding hooks that stun and make you do the stanky leg. Scored for the four jabs or the two? It really just depends on the fight.

If youre winning the entire round, get knocked down at the last second most people give you a 10-8 and NOT a 10-9 or 9-9 or howver you count it. Why? The knockdown is a point but we've seen guys get up and win the round (kd aside).

There's more to it than just the offense...how ineffective are you making your opponent despite not throwing as much? Power doesn't count? So you think Mathebula beat Nonito?

                It's about overall effectiveness.

If clean, light punches DONT stop the opponent from getting off and hes landing bombs (not as many) I'd go with the dude hurting the other one. Pro Boxing IS scored but not like amateur boxing.

Power, precision. Imo most judges Judge on who they have rather been that round. Meaning ring generalship, but judge kd's 10-8 automatics
