Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: After Malignaggi, He Can Broner Going To 140

Golden Boy has made everyone aware of their 140lb tourney that will begin on April 27th when Danny Garcia takes on Zab Judah and the second part will be May 18th when Lamont Peterson faces hard hitting Lucas Matthysse. The winners of each fight will be scheduled to fight each other while Amir Khan will fight the last man standing according to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.

One fighter who might get thrown into the mix is Adrien Broner who is jumping up two weight classes to fight Paulie Malignaggi for the WBA Welterweight championship. BoxingScene caught up with Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya who said only because Broner is fighting at 147 this fight, it doesn’t mean he won’t come back down. [Click Here To Read More]

"Adrien, what do think about a move down to fight the talented group of fighters at 140?" - Jim Gray

"140? Who fights at 140? Never heard of none of em; I'm Mr. HBO" - Adrien Broner

If he doesn't go down and at least fight two big dogs down there I will lose all respect for him. I really like Broner so I hope he goes down.

I think it wold be idea if they did away with Khan prize and Khan vs Broner added to the Tourney.

I'd like to see Broner in with Maidana next. Just to see how he is when he gets tagged by a real hard puncher. At the moment we know he's got decent skills but don't know what his chin is like.

Khan v Broner in Nov/Dec sounds great. Both bring money to the table. Think Khan would easily outbox him tho.

Broner being added to the LWW division that is already stacked presents some great potential match ups. I can't wait for this trash fight to be over and see who he fights first at 140.

Broner has good power and good defense. I can see him beating Khan in a very good scrap.

They or Broner never said he's moving down. He said he COULD SEE Broner going down.
