GBP's only selling point to their stable is that if you fight for scraps on Showtime, you might win the Floyd lottery.
Im pretty sure his fights dont eat up much if not any of the showtime budget. PPVs are risks taken on by the promoter, in this case floyd

Floyd's money doesn't come out of any networks budget, it comes from revenue from his the PPV.

It's not like one network is going to put the other out of business and vice versa.

The average boxing fan probably doesn't even know who "promoters" each event. They just know it's on HBO or Showtime.

HBO maybe be a bit bigger than Showtime but Time Wanrer isn't much bigger than CBS and when comparing just broadcasting arms CBS is probably bigger and with more invested into sports.

HBO is what it is, but that is the only outlet which Time Warner will ever show boxing on except maybe that regional sports network in LA, CBS on the other hand has Showtime, CBS and CBS Sports Network which could all show boxing on a national level.

How it looks to me is HBO boxing has peaked while Showtime boxing still has room to grow

If the budgets are that close between both companies that change in years might mean Showtime might exceed HBO in terms of budget in the near future.

It would be interesting to see where it has gone since then, it would be hard to believe the trend has changed but it would be nice to see where they are really.

They didn't want to over pay. I honestly think hbo is gonna get out of the fight game. They don't need boxing. Hopefully showtime is willing to take on the huge budget there gonna need with Haymon dictating to them
