    Because since the huge influx of casual very young fans, their constant "ooh-hing and aah-ing at what they call "6 packs" causes the boxers to "show off".

    Appearance is a big part of what they have to sell.

            I think it pretty much is this. Posturing in an attempt to gain a mental edge.

            I think it has an effect in some cases, Nigel Benn said he used to look at the size of his opponents and think wtf, he's huge compared to me, but then it would motivate him more as the underdog.

            Chris Eubank actually used to do his poses in the middle of the fight.

                      Fighters do this to assert themselves and exude confidence. I think of it in terms of someone going into battle, after all, these men are putting their lives on the line even though it may not be apparent given the level of static surrounding each fight. Their physique shows dedication and desire to win, just plain old pure posturing and bravado......
