Props to Alvarado first off for going through hell to get that W. He was bruised, cut and beaten for that belt. Rios has an incredible chin and must have TNT in those hands because he was just damaging Alvarado with even jabs.
Rios I thought ran a little out of gas at the end. He wasn't pressing the way he had in the last fight and the way we usually see him. He was cutting the ring off well but was getting hit with too many right hands. He couldn't get inside where he is best.
Alvarado did something I didn't think he could do and that was box his way to a victory. The reason I say that is because it doesn't matter how good of a boxer you are, it's hard to keep Rios off of you for 12 rounds. Alvarado didn't keeo him off of him, because you can see his face and the results but he fought well enough to do what he needed to do.
I also thought Genero Hernandez' brother played a big part in Alvarado's preparation for the fight. He was giving him perfect instructions on how to win it and didn't let his ego and machismo get in the way of doing something ******.
Can't wait to see the 3rd fight.
